Neptune Fire Society

EMPOWER & INCREASE AWARENESS

Originally founded in 1984, The Fraternal Order of Progressive Firefighters was the first organization created by black firefighters to express concerns and address issues being faced by minorities on the department (Charlotte Fire). Although many of those issues have been resolved, there remains struggles with the recruitment, promotion, and acceptance of black and brown firefighters. The mission of our organization is to empower the development & advancement of underrepresented firefighters through training and mentorship, to be a positive and active force in our community through volunteering & partnerships, and to increase awareness of the firefighting career through recruitment activities. 40 years later, The Neptune Fire Society emerges honor our history and continue this important work.
